If you want to stop sexual abuse against children, start in your families.

I am not talking about stranger danger.

I mean start with the predators in your own family.

You know the ones I’m talking about. 
The uncle no one wants to be around.
The grandfather that girls try to avoid.
The cousin that gives a lot of one-on-one out-of-sight attention to the younger cousins.
Maybe even the aunt or grandmother that pets the boys too much. Or maybe even the girls.

Quit normalizing the perversion by:
–inviting them to gatherings.
–laughing about the family skeletons
–saying stupid things like it isn’t a big deal or you shouldn’t say something because someone might get upset.

And for heaven’s sake, quit telling your kids to hug people that make their hair stand on end. 
Listen to them.
Protect them.
Keep them away from those people.

Quit giving the predators and perverts easy targets at your holiday table and family reunions.

Family pervs are not funny.

They are abusers and criminals.

Quit giving them a hunting ground in the name of “family”.
