The Plano Art Drop took place last week. For all of us who have never heard of this, Plano, Texas, invites artists to donate their work, and the pieces are placed around Plano with clues to their hiding spots, and people go and find them and keep them. It is a fun and engaging way to make artists known and give folks a chance to neat pieces of art. This year there were around 30 pieces of art, and one of my photographs was included. 🙂

We were asked to give our art names. Only one came to mind.

POSSIBILITIES.

I slipped a note in with the photograph for the finder. This is what I said:

You are looking at the stamen, pistil, and pollen of a fabulous lily. While there are many things I enjoy photographing, my favorite are the tiny parts of flowers, specifically pollen. I know. Not the normal thing, but here is the thing about pollen, when I see pollen, I imagine the beautiful blooms to come. I see all the possibility of future beauty in those specks.

This is one of my favorite pictures.

What you don’t see are the blooms around this one.

They are dead and withered, and there are spots where the petals on this one is beginning to die. It’s really not pretty, and then there are these guys, sticking up where anyone can see them if they take time to look, and they are still packed with their possibility pollen, and I love that.

I hope this photograph offers hope when you need it and reminds you to believe in beautiful possibilities.

Mostly, I hope it makes you smile and gives you joy.
